Guidelines for Using the CEC Logo
Only CEC-recognized state/provincial units and divisions may use the CEC logo. The entire graphic is available from CEC Headquarters. Chapters, subdivisions, and other interested parties should contact CEC’s Digital Content Director, Mason Shelby, ([email protected]) to obtain a graphic.
Previous iterations of CEC’s logo may have included various taglines. All of these have been phased out, and the logo should only consist of the icon of two figures and the text “Council for Exceptional Children.”
Color
The official colors for the CEC logo are our brand’s red (#BF311A) and dark blue (#04305C). The colors should never be rearranged, changed, screened, or altered in any way.
The approved color options are:
- Full Color (Red and Dark Blue)
- Black (#000000)
- Reverse print (white on a colored background)
Font and Text
The CEC logo uses the AuLitera font, which is not available for manipulation or use elsewhere. The text in the CEC logo should never be rearranged, reconfigured, or altered in any way. It should never appear separate from the “people” graphic.
Sizing
For print: the logo should never be printed smaller than ½”. There is no maximum size limit for the logo use, although the logo should never appear distorted, fuzzy, or unreadable.
For digital: the logo should not appear smaller than 100px wide.
Usage
The CEC logo should be prominent while maintaining the graphic integrity of the piece on which it is displayed. It may not be combined with any logo other than those of officially recognized CEC state/provincial units and divisions.
When developing merchandise or physical items with CEC’s logo, you must get approval on the final design from CEC’s headquarters. Please contact [email protected] for approval.
State/Provincial Unit, Division, and Chapter Logo Usage
Regarding products or other types of endorsements by state/provincial units, divisions, chapters, or subdivisions, CEC’s logo or name may not be used without explicit permission from CEC. To receive this permission, please contact [email protected].
Officially recognized CEC units must use a “combo” logo. Below is a sample of the “combo” logo, with the unit’s name typeset next to the CEC brand.
The CEC “combo” logo featuring units’ names should be displayed on all print materials, including stationery, publications, brochures, advertisements, conference programs, and the Web.
When using a single logo, such as on a CEC unit’s website, the “combo” logo should be used.
CEC divisions may use either the combo logo or create their own. Divisions that create their own logo are responsible for the stewardship of related digital assets. Please contact that division directly if a copy of a division’s logo is needed.
Divisions without a logo are encouraged to use a “combo” logo.
Officially recognized CEC chapters must use a “combo” logo. Two “combo” logo samples appear below, with the unit’s name typeset next to the CEC brand.
The CEC “combo” logo featuring units’ names should be displayed on all print materials, including stationery, publications, brochures, advertisements, conference programs, and the Web.
When using a single logo, such as on a CEC unit’s Web site, the “combo” logo should be used.
